The University of Western Australia’s Recreation and Fitness Centre, Crawley campus has recently undergone a huge refurbishment.
Available to students, members, staff, alumni and the general public the newly refurbished Recreation and Fitness centre boasts a high performance room, a low impact studio, a 35 bike spinroom, a functional training zone and more than 120 cardio and resistance weight machines, as well as a range of cable stations, completely fitted out by leading Australian industry solution provider Summit Fitness Equipment. This impressive facility also offers members use of indoor and outdoor courts as well as over 50 fitness classes per week.
The $600k+ refurbishment included new flooring, Wi-Fi and new equipment such as the latest, state-of-the-art cardio equipment from Star Trac, StairMaster, Octane Fitness, Jacobs Ladder and Torque Fitness, along with a complete Star Trac strength fit out featuring new Lock-N-LoadⓇ technology and free weight equipment along with squat racks and lifting platforms in the heavy weights room.
Summit Fitness were excited to help the University of Western Australia create a Recreation and Fitness Centre that helps their members achieve their goals, whatever they may be, with fun and effective solutions along with supporting the University’s athletic talent.
The exciting new fit out included StarTrac E-TRxe Treadmills with 15” high definition embedded touch screens with built in TV and iPod connectivity. Loaded with Star Trac Coach® with more than 1 million different programmed workouts for members to choose from.
Jacob’s Ladder – A low impact, high range of motion workout. Members can climb the ladder at their own pace on this non-motorised climbing ladder and get a cardio workout for their upper and lower body on the one machine. The machine is well known for its gruelling intensity but low impact function.
Star Trac’s Max Rack 3D – a 3D version of a smith machine which makes it easier to train, lifting weight confidently with the bar allowing for a greater range of motion.
StairMaster’s Boxmaster Towers – An upright multi padded boxing station with numbers on each pad to assist with focused and guided boxing training without the need for a boxing trainer.
Star Trac’s ranges of Inspiration Strength® and Instinct® feature throughout the facility, with the patented Lock-N-load® technology (exclusive to Star Trac) – members don’t need to use pin-loaded weight machines anymore, now it’s a simple as flicking a switch to change a weight selection in the middle of a set making for a more effective and smooth workout.
Torque Fitness’s X-Lab Functional Training Rig– This all in one functional training station from Torque Fitness includes 3x pull-up bars, 6x suspension training anchors, 6x resistance band stations, 3x ball targets, Plyo step, dip station, ground rotational trainer (grt). Torque is well known globally for supplying functional small group training solutions to clubs that are completely customised to suit the facility’s space requirements, as well as training needs and storage requirements.
